Seating that isn't musical chairs
If you're organizing seating, then questions like who is sitting across from whom are probably important to you, and it's information that you just can't get from a list of "who is sitting at which table". With our seating organizer, we actually show you your tables - rectangular or round, with the right placement of chairs — and let you drag-and-drop your guests to the chairs you'd like them to have. |

If you'd like to get fancy and follow the rules of etiquette for formal seating arrangements, we can help with that too — just move a group of guests onto a table, and we'll seat them according to the rules of etiquette you prefer. Then you can rearrange them any way you'd like.
If your religion specifies separate seating for men and women, don't worry — the software automatically selects the etiquette rules for "Separate Seating". It understands about men's tables and women's tables, so if you drop a whole family onto one table, only the members of the correct gender will be automatically given seats. This makes it really quick to seat your guests at the right tables with just a couple of "drag-and-drops" per family. (You can also drag-and-drop individuals to "wrong" tables if you'd like, so that you can make exceptions for small children.)
If you don't have separate seating, you can turn on our "connections" feature, and we add lines to the seating chart connecting married couples with one color and unmarried couples with another color. You can use the connections to quickly verify "Typical Banquet Seating" arrangements (married couples sitting across or a few seats away from each other and unmarried couples sitting next to each other), and adjust them as you'd like.
And, of course, all of this etiquette stuff is completely optional — if you want to seat guests in whichever chairs you'd like, we're not going to stop you. We'll just give you a clean, simple seating chart that helps you do it.
If you're going to use place cards or table cards to help your guests find their seats, we help with that too — based on your seating arrangement, we can generate all of your place cards and table cards for you, creating text that is formally perfect, automatically.
