| The Organized Wedding Consultant — Upgrade to Version 6.04 |
What's in the new version? Click here to find out.
If you currently have version 5.20 or later of The Organized Wedding Consultant, you can easily upgrade it to version 6.04.
NOTE: If you have Windows Vista, you need to follow a different procedure. Please contact us for instructions.
- Exit The Organized Wedding Consultant if it is running.
- Make a duplicate of your entire copy of The
Organized Wedding Consultant:
- Open "My Computer", then open your local hard disk (usually C:), then open the "Program Files" folder, then open the folder named "The Organized Wedding" within Program Files.
- RIGHT-click the folder named "The Organized Wedding Consultant" and choose Copy from the little pop-up menu.
- Click Edit, then Paste from the top menu. You should now see a second folder named "Copy of The Organized Wedding Consultant" in addition to the original folder. This is your backup copy.
- Click one of the following links to download the upgrade file (about 12 MB) for your version of Windows:
- After you've downloaded the file and saved it on your computer (we suggest saving it to your Desktop so that it's easy to find), double-click the file on your computer. The installation/upgrade program starts. It looks just like the original setup file that you used to install The Organized Wedding Consultant, but if you already have The Organized Wedding Consultant installed, it upgrades instead of installing a new copy.
- IMPORTANT: If you installed The Organized Wedding Consultant to a different folder from the usual one (C:\Program Files\The Organized Wedding\The Organized Wedding Consultant\), you must click the "Change" button and select the hard drive and folder in which The Organized Wedding Consultant is currently installed. When you've selected the folder, click OK and continue through the installation program.
- When the installation program finishes, you can start The Organized Wedding Consultant again. To make sure you have the new version, click "Help", then "About The Organized Wedding Consultant". It should now say that you have version 6.04.
IMPORTANT: After upgrading, you might need to make the following changes for your current clients.
- If any of your current clients have someone other than the bride
listed as the client, you'll need to update each of them as follows:
- Go to the "Clients & Events" section and edit that client.
- Click the "Client & Basic Plan" tab, then find the "Billing Information" section at the bottom of that tab.
- Check the check box that says "The bill should be sent to …", and make sure that the information is correctly filled in for the client.
- Click OK.
- The first time you print from new views, the printout will be blank
except for your page header and footer.
To fix it, please click the "Select Columns & Sizes" button inside the gold frame in the Print (or Print Preview) window. You don't have to make any changes -- just click the OK button, then go on to print or print preview. You'll need to click the "Select Columns & Sizes" button for each page layout you use (full size, day planner, etc.), but you only need to do it once to set it up. After that, you can go straight to print or print preview with no problems. The places this will happen are:- the 2 views in Clients & Events
- the Gifts section, if you've checked the "Show date thank-you was sent" check box.
- For folded place cards and table cards, we've changed the way vertical
offsets work. The center point for the offset used to be at the fold,
but now it is the center of the visible face once the card is folded.
This means that for place cards, the vertical offset should probably
be set to 0.00. If you're printing both names and table numbers on
the front of a folded table card, you'll need to set the vertical
offset for the name to a negative number (such as -0.35 inches) and
the vertical offset for the table number to a positive number (such
as 0.35 inches). These settings would print the name 0.35 inches
above the center of the card face and the number 0.35 inches below
the card face, allowing about 1/2 inch of space between the two lines
of text.
