The Organized Wedding Consultant Online Help: Working with GiftsViews discussed: Gifts The "Gifts" section of the program (in the client section of the left-hand menu) records the gifts that your clients receive and the thank-you notes that they send back. You can add, change, and remove gifts in the list by using the buttons on the right. "Add a Gift" adds new gifts to the list as they arrive, "Delete" removes gifts from the list, and "Edit" lets you add to or change the information about a gift. You can also edit gifts by double-clicking them (or their senders) in the list. You mark thank-you notes as sent by checking off the boxes in the column named "Thank You Sent". There are, however, some things to know to get the most out of this section. AddressesThere is no connection between what you fill in for "Gift is from" and the names in the address book. When you're adding or editing a gift, there's a button labeled "Select" (in the "Gift and Thank You" window) that makes it easy for you to choose a household from the address book, but you can actually type in anything you'd like. We do it this way because your client may start receiving gifts before the guest list is completed, so you may not be able to select from the address book as the gifts arrive. Also, of course, some gifts are from groups of guests, or from just part of a household. The disadvantage of being able to fill in whatever you want is that once you add a name and address to the gift list, it is no longer connected in any way to the address book -- if you correct names and addresses in the address book, those changes will not automatically show up in the list of gifts. So if you need to correct the names or addresses of guests who've sent gifts, you'll need to make the changes both in the address book and in "Gifts." Duplicate GiftsFor a client to receive more than one of the same gift is not uncommon. When they do, just select a gift of the same type in the list and click the "Make a Copy" button on the right. You'll need to change the "Gift is From" information, and the address to which the thank-you note should be sent, but this still saves you some typing. Printing EnvelopesWhen you're adding or editing a gift, there's a button labeled "Printing" in the lower right (in the "Gift and Thank You" window) that makes it easy to print (or preview) an envelope addressed to the gift-giver.
