Interview several photographers, look at their work (you can often do this online), compare packages and other costs, and select one.

Ask your officiant if he/she has any restrictions on photos during the ceremony or at the wedding site.

If you plan to have formal wedding photos taken the day of the wedding, decide whether to take them before or after the ceremony.

Have a formal wedding portrait taken, if you want one. |
2 weeks to 1 month before |
If you're having formal photos taken, tell everyone who needs to be in them when and where to show up. |

If there are any specific photos you want the photographer to take, give them a list when you confirm location, date, time, and appropriate attire for the Wed. & Recep.. |
